Me and Anna getting ready for the tsunami
View from Hookipa during last year's tsunami warning.
There's a tsunami warning right now. Though my heart goes out to everyone in Japan, I can't help but to be reminded of last years tsunami warning (lamest tsunami warning ever). I went to Maui for the weekend AND super excited to go freaking whale watching. EVERYTHING got cancelled due to this so called tsunami warning. It did get rescheduled for the next day, but of course with my luck the weather COMPLETELY sucked. Meh.
I miss Hookipa btw. Oh Maui.

More Canada photos... I've been slacking on my posts. On this day we went to Granville Island and Lynn Canyon. Granville Island was great! Big public market, lots of local foods and eateries. I could've stayed in there trying all the different foods ALL day. My favorites were the meat places and the granville tea company.

Life has been tiring lately. Over the past couple of weeks, I've been applying for jobs, eating good dinner cooked by my sister, enjoying the beach, etc. I haven't been to Maui in awhile. I'm just trying to figure out what to do next, where I want my life to go and how I will get there. I'll never find a better job than working at the Advertiser and I can't work retail forever. What's my next move? I have a lot of thoughts to sort through, but there hasn't been a whole lot of jobs out there. It's like I need the money but I am enjoying this whole one job thing.

There are genuine nice people in the world. At Honolulu Coffee Co. the Moana Surfrider location, there is this nice asian guy that reminds me of my friend Landon (lookswise) and Chivas (personality wise, but not as passive). I go there a lot, not for coffee but for ice tea. Today I went in and he was like "Large Ice Tea?" But I tricked him this time with a Hawaiian Sunrise. I ordered a small and he gave me a large. What a nice guy, I totally want to set him up with one of my friends because any guy THAT nice (to give a complete stranger a bigger drink, to remember what I order without ever knowing my name, and to sometimes give me discount) is in my book friend date worthy. Any takers girls who read my blog? It's refreshing to find people out of the blue that nice, thank's guy at Honolulu Coffee Co.

Actually I've been having a nice people kind of day so far... guy at Hank's Haute Dog was nice and friendly, a customer who ate a Hank's chili dog gave him extra tip because he said the chili was delicious, and at work tonight no rude callers and everyone called in their basketball games ON TIME. I quote the great Ice Cube "...today was a good day."

p.s. i stop writing titles because i kept getting title writer's block.

Convienently Spoiled?

I got a coupon for the gap, 25% off your entire purchase this weekend. I'm in love with their always skinny 1969 jeans, so I was happy with the thought getting another pair with my coupon. I knew I would be in maui this weekend, but I figured who doesn't have a gap these days right?!? WRONG apparently queen kaahumanu mall doesn't have one! There is only one in wailea. I was shocked, we have one at every mall on oahu! I guess I'm a little spoiled back home, where everything (well most things) are at my fingertips. Point for oahu!

I still took advantage of my coupon, I called my mom back home to go and pick up my jeans... Now I guess that's what you call a little spoiled.

Went to Maui for Valentine's Day to visit Mike. He got me a rose and took me to the Maui Ocean Center. That place kick's Waikiki Aquarium's ass. We try to keep vday low key under these harsh economic times, so we didn't go out to eat. And why go eat when you have a boyfriend that graduated from culinary school right? Fun times on Maui as always.

The 2008 hate

2008 was a rough year. I went from happy newspaper part-timer/billabong full-timer to newspaper full-timer/billabong part-timer and just when I thought I've found my career niche now I'll be back to newspaper part-timer/billabong full-timer. I've changed my health insurance 3 times (4 of you count the three months I was on COBRA). My boyfriend said he was going to move back to Maui in May to end up only coming back 2 weeks later to finish school then move back to Maui for good in October. I paid $60 bucks at the gas pump to fill up my '99 Camry. And the worst part was losing my dear Grammsy.

I know, I know, my year could've been way worse, and I am grateful for everything in my life that didn't go wrong. It's just that overall, it was a pretty crappy year. The year wasn't a total waste I did get to see Chris Breezy in concert, fell in love with Gossip Girl, went to my first Birthday Bash, voted for Barrack Obama, my Project Runway pick finally won, got a blackberry, saw HSM3 in theaters, and whoa did Lauren and Heidi actually have a civil conversation last week on the Hills?!?

I'm SO ready for 2008 to be over, only about 14 hours left. Time for a new year and a fresh positive start.
